It was with heavy hearts we said good-bye to our dear pastor, mentor, and friend, Bishop Zephaniah. His leadership and guidance will be greatly missed. Bishop Zeph’s wisdom and support was instrumental in the establishment of Carry the Light Ministries in Kenya. So many lives were touched and changed by this man. His powerful influence will continue through the ministries of more than 100 pastors he mentored. A speaker at the funeral said it best when he said, “The giant is now sleeping.”

Dear Friends,
Hello from Carry the Light Ministries. We wanted to give you an update on our most recent trip to Kenya. It was a very busy trip filled with multiple celebrations!

Carry the Light Christian Academy Kindergarten Graduation |
It was such an honor and blessing to be present for the graduation of our 2nd class of Kindergarten students from Carry The Light Christian Academy. The children danced and sang “Come, let us celebrate the goodness of the Lord”. It was so precious to hear them and watch them show off what they had learned. The Academy currently has Nursery School, Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and the newly added 2nd Grade classes.
The Academy educates not only our children, but children from the community which receive an education far superior to the public school system, which can have as many as 90 children in one classroom with only one teacher. Thank you, Jesus for providing such a wonderful opportunity for our children!

Two weddings…..
|
We are happy to announce that two couples, Phillip and Evelyn and Isaiah and Mercy, are now married! We so enjoyed being part of their special days – Kenyan style! In Kenya, it can take almost two hours for the wedding party to walk down the aisle. They take a very small step, do a few dance steps, and then take another very small step. Both weddings were beautiful! We pray God’s blessings on both couples as well as many years of happiness together.

Construction Progress |
We broke ground on the CTL Boys Home (located across the road from our existing Home) back in May of 2011, and we were able to make great progress this trip. We placed the trusses and roof on about two thirds of the building, poured slabs in all of the dorm rooms, and plastered inside and out. This provides space for 2 new classrooms temporarily, thus allowing us to add 2nd grade to our Academy. We will use this facility during the daytime temporarily for our Academy until the school building is built. Later this year, as the Boys Home is finished, we will move all of our young men to this new facility.

Today, (January 11th) our team left for Honduras to continue construction of our 3rd Children’s Home. Much of the focus of this short trip will be administrative and meetings with government officials in Honduras. There are papers to sign and much work to be accomplished as we follow the Lord’s plan for this Ministry. We ask you to keep us covered with your prayers for Divine “FAVAAAH”, wisdom, and protection.
Our team will leave again for Kenya January 30th – February 29th. If any of you are interested in going on a mission trip with us this year to either Kenya or Honduras, please email me and GO GET YOUR PASSPORT! You never know exactly what God will do in you and through you once you take a step of faith. Thank you so much to all of you who have partnered with us in the Ministry through prayer and financial support. My prayer for you is that God will richly bless you in 2012 beyond your wildest dreams. THIS IS A YEAR OF NEW BEGINNINGS!
In His service,
Rev. Greg Haynes
